I’ve lived in Colorado for over 6 years. This state has so many unique features.
We have breathtaking nature, quaint mountain towns, and a vibe unlike any other state.
Here’s a list of 60 dog names inspired by Colorado.
First, let’s start off with Colorado wildflowers.
I love wildflowers and even named my business, Wildflower Dog Training, after them!
They are colorful and vibrant against the backdrop of the Rocky Mountains in the summer months.
If one of your favorite activities is viewing wildflowers, then perhaps choose a name from this list!
Colorado has an array of towns, from the “bustling” city of Denver to quaint mountain towns like Minturn.
What better way to honor Colorado than to name your dog after your favorite town?
7. Mini: For Minturn and the Minturn Mile, an epic backcountry ski run that runs from Vail to Minturn.
8. Stanley: For the infamous Stanley Hotel in Estes Park, which was the setting of one of Stephen King’s most famous books, The Shining!
9. Pal, Sades, Or Palli: For wine country in Palisade, Colorado.
10. Peach: For Palisade Peaches. You can find them at roadside stands when they’re in season.
11. Melly: For Melanzana. If you know, you know.
12. Aspen: One of the most infamous ski resorts in Colorado. Aspen is also one of our most popular trees.
13. Breck: For Breckenridge, my favorite ski town to bring my friends when they’re in town.
14. Copper: For Copper Mountain Ski Resort.
15. Gunnison or Gunner
16. Gold/Goldie: For Golden, where you can hike, tube down the river, and take a tour of Coors Brewery.
17. Ouray: One of the best towns for rock climbers.
18. Butte: For Crested Butte.
19. Vail: Skiers travel from all over the world to ski the legendary back bowls, and see the epic views.
20. Collin: For Fort Collins. One of the best towns for brewery hopping.

We love our wildlife in Colorado. There are so many different animals you can name your dog after.
My favorite name from this list has been extinct for millions of years.
23. Dino (pronounced Deeno or Dino): For the dinosaurs that roamed our state. This name is my favorite!
24. Steg: For the Stegosaurus, which is Colorado’s state fossil.
25. Goose: If you’ve ever been to City Park in Denver, you’ll understand.

27. Kit: For the endangered kit fox. They are adorable!
28. Bob: For the bobcat.

53. Larri: For Larimer Square, the oldest area of Denver.

55. Joker: For Nikola Jokić, a famous Nuggets player.
56. Bronco: For the Denver Bronco’s NFL team.
